Tim McGraw released a song called “Humble and Kind” in 2016. It went number one and became a mantra for many people to “always be humble and kind,” just like his lyrics say.

This story is all about how humble and kind Tim McGraw is, and it makes us love him even more.

In a social media post made on April 29, entrepreneur Scooter Braun told a story about how Tim McGraw drove three hours to meet with a young woman whose wish was to meet him through the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

Who Is Scooter Braun?

Braun was a talent manager-turned-record label executive who is credited with discovering Justin Bieber. Over the years he has managed artists such as Ariana Grande, Demi Lovato, and Dan + Shay. He was also at the center of the Taylor Swift feud with her former record label, Big Machine Records, and is the reason she has been rerecording all her albums over the last several years.

In 2023, Braun joined the board of directors of the Make-A-Wish Foundation, which helps grant wishes of children ages 2 1/2-18 at the time of referral who have suffered from a critical illness. The Foundation works closely with the child’s physician on when the appropriate time for the wish to be granted based on their treatment and health.

Meet Emily Kelley

In 2019, a girl named Emily Kelley went through treatment for an undisclosed illness during her junior year of high school. According to her Instagram, she had surgery on April 25, 2021, that seemingly put an end to a two-year battle with the illness.

She graduated high school in 2021 and went on to attend Western Kentucky University, where she is in a sorority and continues to race dirt cars with her family.

She was referred to the Make-A-Wish Foundation and her wish was to meet Tim McGraw.

Braun revealed in his Instagram post that during the Make-A-Wish board meeting in January 2024, he heard about Emily’s wish to meet Tim McGraw. McGraw’s record label is Big Machine, so Braun already had a connection with him. He immediately reached out to the “Humble and Kind” singer, and he agreed to meet Emily!

They set up the meeting, but two days prior, McGraw’s scheduled suddenly changed and he was not able to make the meeting day. They all figured out he would be near Emily again in April 2024 and they could bring her to his concert.

That wasn’t enough for McGraw, as it felt too far away.

“He asked me where Emily lived in Kentucky and Tim said that he would get in his truck the following week and drive up to Emily the 2 to 3 hours and spend the day with her,” Braun wrote. “And that is exactly what happened.”

McGraw recorded a video to send to Emily and her family, where he said he had heard so much about her and was so excited to meet her soon.

McGraw went to their home in Kentucky to spend the day with Emily, and they also brought Emily and her parents to that April show in Nashville. Because Emily is an avid dirt car racer, the Big Machine Racing team also gifted her with a Tim McGraw-decorated side to a dirt race car!

“Grateful to Tim and our make a wish family and the big machine racing team for making Emily’s wish come true. Tim is truly humble and kind 🙂 True Legend of a human!” Braun wrote.
