The Oak Ridge Boys Mourn The Passing Of Former Member Skip Mitchell

The music industry mourns another loss of incredible legacy and talent in 2020.
The Oak Ridge Boys took to social media to announce that their former group member Harold Wayne “Skip” Mitchell, Jr. has died. According to his obituary, Mitchell passed on Dec. 28. He was 65 years old and a resident of Hendersonville, TN.

Mitchell was a guitarist for the country and gospel quartet, The Oak Ridge Boys. He stayed with the band for ten years, from 1976 to 1986. While a member of The Oak Ridge Boys, Mitchell won several awards, including a Grammy. The talented musician also played with the band, The Goldens, and dedicated his life to music.
“Very sad news today. Our friend and longtime guitarist Skip Mitchell has passed away. Our prayers are with his family. L to R: Garland Craft, Mark Ellerbee, Skip, Don Breland,” The Oak Ridge Boys wrote on social media.

No public services are currently scheduled for Mitchell due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but fans can celebrate Mitchell’s life by listening to the music he helped create.
