Charlie Daniels Hologram To Appear At 4th Of July Concert At Fort Campbell

Soon, Charlie Daniels will become the next performer to have a hologram in his likeness…and that hologram is slated to appear at a 4th of July event.

By now, the concept of hologram-based performances is no longer new. Holograms have been designed to resemble performers such as Michael Jackson, Whitney Houston, and Elvis Presley.

Six years after his death in 2020, a “state-of-the-art” Charlie Daniels hologram will perform at Fort Campbell’s Independence Day celebration on July 4th. Since Daniels was a strong supporter of the U.S. military, it makes sense that this event was chosen to showcase his hologram.

A press release on Daniels’ website describes the event. It reads:

July 4, 2026, marks 250 years since the founding of the United States, a milestone few generations will witness. Headlining the evening, The Legend of Charlie Daniels tribute concert featuring the Charlie Daniels hologram will bring his legacy and legendary stage performances back to the stage with a live band for the first time since his passing in 2020.”

The free celebration will also feature performances from Aaron Tippin, Eric Lee Beddingfield, and the 101st Airborne Division Band.

Charlie Daniels’ Son Explains The Story Behind The Hologram

After the hologram announcement, Daniels’ son, Charlie Daniels Jr., shared his thoughts on social media. Charlie Jr. already knew about the hologram, and in fact, he says the idea originated a week after his dad passed away in 2020.

Charlie Jr. wanted to host a tribute stage show celebrating his father’s life. The show would have consisted of the 2020 band members along with some guest vocalists and making use of pre-recorded video of Dad singing and playing in addition to the guest artists,” Charlie Jr. explained on Facebook.

But the ongoing pandemic made that idea impossible to pull off at the time. “…it took a while for the music business to get back up to speed, by that time, some band members had changed professions, gotten other gigs, or just flat out retired,” Charlie Jr. said.

He remained determined to bring his vision to life. Then, he connected with Noah Gordon, an artist who wrote several songs with Daniels and considered him a mentor. Gordon, who now works with 8 Track Entertainment, has “learned how to market music with a fervor in the social media age.

Gordon and Charlie Jr. concocted the initiative now known as “The Legend of Charlie Daniels.”

Let me tell you what the show is, it’s a tribute to Dad, the celebration of his life highlighting the man, the musician, the patriot and the family man,” Charlie Jr. said. “It will basically [be] the tribute that I have envisioned all along, with one major addition. The Legend of Charlie Daniels Hologram.”

Will The Hologram Go On Tour?

Daniels’ hologram is not like the ABBA Voyage show, where the entire performance is made up of motion-captured images. Rather, Daniels’ hologram “will be used more sparingly.”

The decision was made to have the hologram designed after Daniels in the later years of his life. They may be able to represent his different eras in the future.

Now before anyone gets too weirded out about the concept, let me assure you that I had reservations myself, and I only agreed to it with the understanding that this could not in any way look strange, creepy or unnatural. If it looked like a bad Disney audio animatronic figure, then I was out, but the work-in-progress 3D models have been very promising, and continue to improve with each new version,” Charlie Jr. said.

He added, “…you know I will be highly critical to make sure it is as authentic as possible, allowing for such meticulous things like how Dad held his fiddle, and so forth.”

Because of how much his dad loved the troops, Charlie Jr. feels “nothing could be more appropriate” than unveiling the hologram at the 4th of July event at Fort Campbell.

If there’s enough demand, Charlie Jr. is open to taking the tribute show on tour. They stick to performing on military bases in 2026. However, they “hope to be able to put the show on the road in 2027.
