Before Stapleton took the stage, Mailata met him backstage and performed “Tennessee Whiskey” for him. The Tackle, who wearing a cowboy hat, didn’t seem nervous singing for the ten-time Grammy Award winner.

Stapleton was visibly impressed with the football star, and he even sang harmony for the chorus. But it wasn’t until the epic vocal run on the word “warm” that Stapleton’s reaction became priceless. After Mailata nailed the “Fire Away” singer’s epic run, Stapleton screamed, “Yeah!” and gave the athlete a round of applause.

Who Is Jordan Mailata?

Jordan Mailata is an Australian former rugby player who only began playing football after NFL executives saw film of him playing professional rugby. After attending a combine at the Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ practice facility (separate from the official NFL combine), he was drafted by the Philadelphia Eagles as the 233rd pick of the 2018 NFL Draft.

He became the second player in history to be drafted to the NFL with no high school or college football experience. In fact, he had never even “played a single down of American football,” according to scouts at the combine.

Despite dealing with injuries in the beginning of his career, he helped lead the Eagles to two Super Bowls in three years, winning in 2025.

Off the field, he is known for his singing voice, having competed on Season 7 of The Masked Singer as Thingamabob.”
