Ruby Leigh has been called the frontrunner of The Voice this season, and Monday night’s performance of John Denver’s “Take Me Home, Country Roads” is a testament to why.

With season 24 of The Voice in its final weeks of competition, the remaining nine hopefuls gave everything they had to Monday night’s (December 12) live semifinal round. And with the elimination of four singers Tuesday looming, the pressure was on.

One competitor who has consistently remained strong under the pressure of competition is 16-year-old Ruby Leigh. The fan favorite has wowed week after week with performances that belie her age, including covers of hits from Linda Ronstadt, Reba McEntire, and LeAnn Rimes.

During Monday night’s episode, the Team Reba member took on John Denver’s “Take Me Home, Country Roads,” a song chosen by fans. She kicked off the performance a cappella before launching into the familiar verses backed by a full band.

The coaches praised her cover of the country classic with Reba even calling her a “show-stopper.”

“You did a great job,” Reba told the teen. “You did everything to perfection. I’m really, really proud, you sang your butt off tonight.”

John Legend followed with praise of his own, saying: “I’ve been a fan of yours since day one … I love that you are always so authentically you… and sing the music that means so much to you.”

Ruby Leigh first wowed coaches during her Blind Audition where she sang a rousing performance of Patsy Montana’s “I Want To Be A Cowboy’s Sweetheart.”

The Foley, Missouri, native, who happens to be the youngest singer in the competition this season, earned a four-chair turn during her audition. After an attempt from each coach to woo Ruby Leigh, she ultimately chose to join Team Reba. The choice was a smart one for the singer who hasn’t faltered throughout the grueling weeks of competition, thanks to the support of first-time coach, Reba.
