Hear Loretta Lynn’s Granddaughter Emmy Russell Open Up In Her Extremely Emotional New Song

Emmy got the chance to make her Grand Ole Opry debut on April 13, 2023. Now, she has a new song to share, and it’s extremely powerful. It’s called “Skinny.”

On August 19, Loretta’s official social media pages shared a video of Emmy delivering a vulnerable performance of the song. It describes the pressure she feels to be physically “perfect,” and how that makes her hate the body she’s in.

The song has Emmy singing about her battle with an eating disorder, as she reveals in the opening lines, “Haven’t eaten in days, God I hate how you made me. So scared to confess, been so hard to undress, lately.”

Whoever published the video of Emmy’s performance on Loretta’s page wrote:

“We cannot be more proud of Emmy’s bravery. Her beauty shines through from her soul and like her grandmother, Loretta, she’s telling her truth, even her pains…her real story. We pray it helps so many.”
