Jon Pardi Welcomes Surprise Guest Clint Black For CMA Fest Duet

This year’s CMA Fest lineup definitely did not disappoint!
Multiple country artists delivered iconic performances during night two of the festival at Nissan Stadium.
Some of these big-time artists included Cody Johnson, Luke Bryan, Jelly Roll, and more!
But one standout performance of the night came a little later during Jon Pardi’s set. After singing a few of his well-known songs, including “Dirt On My Boots” and “Heartache On The Dance Floor,” Pardi invited a very talented and well-known triple-threat singer/guitarist/songwriter to the stage — none other than Clint Black!
The crowd went wild as Black was welcomed to the stage, waiting to hear what would undoubtedly be a great performance from the duo.
Describing Black as “one of my heroes,” Pardi joined Black for a performance of his 1989 hit “Killin’ Time,” during which the audience enthusiastically sang along.
You would think the classic hit was released just a few years ago despite being over three decades old!

“Killin’ Time” was released as the second single and title track from Clint Black’s debut album.
The track soared to the top spot on the U.S. Billboard Hot Country Singles chart, marking Black’s second number-one hit.
When Billboard revealed its year-end Hot Country Singles chart for 1989, “Killin’ Time” claimed the impressive No. 2 spot of the year, just behind Black’s “A Better Man.”
This year, in 2024, Rolling Stone ranked “Killin’ Time” at #144 on its list of 200 Greatest Country Songs Of All Time.
The addition of Jon Pardi to the performance at this year’s CMA Fest added excitement to the track.
Their collaboration achieved a balanced blend of classic and modern country music, catering to a wide range of fans at the prestigious country music event!
Jon Pardi and Clint Black’s performance was highlighted on this year’s CMA Fest TV special on Tuesday, June 25.
The CMA Fest TV special enables fans unable to attend the event in Nashville to enjoy some of the excitement from the convenience of their homes! According to a press release from CMA Fest, this year’s broadcasting special is the 21st consecutive summer TV program.
