John Michael Montgomery’s Son Remakes His Dad’s 1994 Hit, “I Love The Way You Love Me”

John Michael Montgomery was one of the biggest names in ’90s country music. Now his son, Walker, is carrying on his family music legacy with a career of his own.
Walker Montgomery, son of John Michael Montgomery and nephew of Montgomery Gentry’s Eddie Montgomery, has a country music history that is worth singing about. The 25-year-old not only looks like his famous father but sounds like him too – a fact that endears him to fans of ’90s country as well as the current generation of country music fans.
Many assume that Walker’s road to country music success was a given, but the singer recently shared that football was his first love. Upon realizing that football wasn’t going to be a career, Montgomery started playing guitar and singing. Upon the release of his first single, “Simple Town,” Walker quit college and decided to pursue music full-time.

Unlike a lot of children of famous parents, Walker Montgomery is proud to boast the Montgomery name. And instead of shying away from the music of his famous dad he has chosen to pay tribute by covering some of his biggest hits and other songs from ’90s hitmakers.
Most recently, Walker Montgomery released a cover of his dad’s 1993 hit “I Love The Way You Love Me.”
“I Love The Way You Love Me” was John Michael Montgomery’s first No. 1 song and earned a trophy from the Academy of Country Music for Song of the Year. It was a bold move for Walker to cover one of his dad’s biggest hits, but listeners agree….he nailed it.
As excited as fans were to hear the cover, nobody could have been more excited and proud that John Michael Montgomery who commented, saying: “So happy you gave this song a new life and are sharing it with a new generation. Amazing job, I am a proud Dad!”
We can’t talk about Walker Montgomery’s recording of “I Love The Way You Love Me” without stating the obvious fact that the apple didn’t fall far from the proverbial tree. At first listen, one might immediately think that it was John Michael himself singing a new version of the song. The father and son share a rich voice quality that is a perfect match for stirring ballads like this one.
