Jimmy Carter Photographed At 96 Years Old

When logging on Twitter on Tuesday (May 4), users saw that The Carters were trending. There were a couple reasons for this, one being that the 39th president of the United States, Jimmy Carter, and his wife Rosalynn were recently photographed with the 46th president, President Biden, and his wife Jill.

Another reason “The Carters” was trending is because singer Beyoncé and her rapper husband, Jay-Z, whose real name is Shawn Carter, posted a photo with their three children.

Since both Carter families are trending in the same couple days, the Internet went wild with Photoshop and created memes out of it.

But an additional reason the photo of the Bidens and the Carters gained attention was because of how small Jimmy and Rosalynn look compared to Jill and Joe.

“I LOVE the Carters and Bidens, but this looks like an optical illusions making the Carters look tiny and the Bidens look huge,” one user wrote on Twitter.

The Washington Post spoke with a photographer named Marlena Sloss, who said the reason for the look of the photo was because “the image appeared to have been captured with strong flash and a wide-angle lens.”
