Jeannie Seely’s Husband, Gene Ward, Has Died At Age 92

Country music legend and Grand Ole Opry member Jeannie Seely is mourning the death of her beloved husband, Gene Ward.

Jeannie and Gene married in 2010. Just eight years later, Jeannie asked her fans to pray for Gene, who was experiencing some serious health issues.

Gene started feeling better, and he and Jeannie renewed their vows in 2019. But his health recently took another turn for the worse.

In a post she shared on social media on Wednesday (December 11), Jeannie wrote:

Thanksgiving morning Gene asked me to call 911 as he was having chest pains and couldn’t breathe. At St. Thomas Hospital they also confirmed that cancer is back. He has been transferred to Lifecare in Old Hickory for care and they are a great folks there. His boys, Gregg, Kevin and Shane are the best. We would be grateful for extra prayers. Gene Ward is one of the most amazing men I have ever known and I have been so blessed to be his wife.

Sadly, just three days later, Jeannie shared the news that Gene had passed away.

Jeannie posted two pictures of a beautiful sunrise, and captioned them “Gene’s first morning in heaven.”

Gene Ward was 92 years old at the time of his death. According to a statement cited by Taste of Country, he died at a life care center in Nashville on Friday (December 13).
