Five-year-old Violet Burdick looks more comfortable onstage than many seasoned performers!

Violet Burdick and her dad Ryan paid a visit to the The Ellen DeGeneres Show, and the five-year-old gave an adorable rendition of “Jolene” by Dolly Parton. Violet’s father revealed that his daughter became a huge fan of Parton because of the country icon’s philanthropic book operation. Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library provides a free book once a month to small children, and Violet is one of the recipients.

Violet is more than just a fan of Parton’s books! When Ellen asked Violet what the five-year-old knew about Dolly Parton, Violet listed one of her favorite stories about the singer’s childhood. Violet stated:

“That she, her mama, made a coat for her. A coat of many colors for her. And she wore it to school and all the kids laughed at her. And then Dolly Parton told her friends, but her friends couldn’t understand it.”

After the interview with Ellen, Violet and her father performed in front of a small live audience. Violet explained Parton’s song to viewers, which resulted in several sweet giggles across the room.

“Jolene is about a girl named Jolene, and she wanted to take Dolly’s man,” Violet explained.
