Who Is American Idol Star Hannah Harper?
Hannah Harper’s version of “The Grand Tour” will make you realize why she’s a fan-favorite performer on American Idol this year.
The larger world met Harper when she auditioned for Season 24 of American Idol. She captivated the judges (and viewers) with her performance of an original song, titled “String Cheese.” Harper wrote the song after struggling with postpartum depression following the birth of her third child.
The sweet, yet profound song about the highs and lows of motherhood struck a chord with millions. Judge Carrie Underwood told Harper she was her “favorite person that’s walked through those doors.”
Harper received a Golden Ticket to participate in Hollywood Week. Once there, she delivered a delicate cover of Lee Ann Womack’s “A Little Past Little Rock.” She has since advanced into the Top 7.
Although American Idol introduced Harper to a brand-new audience, she’s been singing for years. She grew up in Missouri, where she sang gospel-bluegrass with her family band, appropriately called The Harper Family.
Once she married and started a family of her own, Harper decided to pursue a solo career. She auditioned for Idol in the hopes that it would help catapult her career.
Hannah Harper Captivates With Cover Of “The Grand Tour”
Both prior to and after her appearance on Idol, Harper shared videos of herself singing country classics. She’s covered songs by icons such as Merle Haggard, Jo Dee Messina, and John Anderson, among many others.
In September 2025, Harper posted a video of herself singing George Jones‘ “The Grand Tour.” Known as one of Jones’ signature songs, he released the track in 1974. It became his sixth track to top the Hot Country Songs chart.

More recently, Harper covered “The Grand Tour” during an intimate live performance. TikTok user paigejilliann23 uploaded a video of Harper’s hauntingly beautiful cover of the timeless tune, captioning it, “Saw Hannah Harper tonight and it was amazing.“
Within just one day, the video of Harper singing “The Grand Tour” already had over 100,000 views on TikTok. Watch that video below to get a true grasp of her talent.
