Reba McEntire’s Sitcom Happy’s Place Has Been Renewed For Season 2

Reba McEntire’s sitcom Happy’s Place has been a huge success since its premiere in October 2024.

The show follows Reba’s character, Bobbie, who inherits her father’s bar after his passing. However, while reviewing his will, she discovers she has a half-sister named Isabella (played by Belissa Escobedo). Together, they must learn to run the business while navigating any challenge that may come their way.

After its pilot reached over 10 million viewers across all platforms, Happy’s Place became the most successful new comedy series to ever launch on NBC’s streaming service, Peacock. So, it was no surprise when the show was renewed for a second season.

Reba shared the exciting news in a video where she told her co-stars that the show was officially coming back.

Happy’s Place Has Been Full Of Special Guest Appearances

It’s been great to see McEntire on our TV screens again, especially since it’s been nearly 20 years since her iconic namesake sitcom aired.

One thing that fans have loved about Happy’s Place is that McEntire has brought back some familiar faces. Melissa Peterman, who played Barbara Jean on Reba, was cast as a main character named Gabby, a bartender and Bobbie’s best friend.

During season 1, McEntire’s former co-star Steve Howey also made a guest appearance in an episode. Howey played McEntire’s son-in-law, Van Montgomery, on Reba.

But the reunions didn’t stop there. In episode 15 of Happy’s Place, Christopher Rich, who played Reba’s ex-husband Brock on her early 2000s sitcom, returned to acting after a long break to take on the role of Maverick, a tattoo artist.

Will We See More Reba Reunions In Season 2 Of Happy’s Place?

Season 1 was full of nostalgia, and fans couldn’t get enough. So, will there be more Reba reunions in season 2?

Happy’s Place creator Kevin Abbot recently shared that he would love to make it happen and will do so if possible.

In an interview with PopCulture.com, Abbott talked about his hopes for Season 2 and the possibility of writing in roles for more of McEntire’s former castmates.

“We really want to have JoAnna [García Swisher] on there,” Abott said.

JoAnna García Swisher played McEntire’s daughter, Cheyenne, from 2001-2007.

I just want to make certain that we get something that makes that character … fun for JoAnna to be playing it,” he added. “You know, we wanted to make certain for both Chris and Steve that they had something great to play. I guarantee she’ll be on this next season if she’s available.”

Abbott also recalled how great it was to have so many exciting guest appearances in Season 1.

“They’re not only great talents, they’re just great people,” he said. “So to have them on the set was really phenomenal.”

As of now, filming for season 2 of Happy’s Place has not yet begun.
