Just a couple days after he was forced to postpone his upcoming stadium concerts, George Strait has dropped a bombshell on his fans.

On May 14, Strait announced that his shows at US Bank Stadium and Notre Dame Stadium, both scheduled for this summer, have been postponed to July 31 and August 7, 2021, respectively.

For the safety of fans during the ongoing pandemic, George has postponed his live shows Strait Summer in Minneapolis to Saturday, July 31, 2021 and Strait to South Bend in Notre Dame to Saturday, August 7, 2021,” he wrote. “Fans should hold on to existing tickets, which will be honored for the new dates. Those unable to attend the rescheduled shows are eligible for a refund at the original point of purchase for the next 30 days.

This decision was not made lightly for a man who loves to perform live.

In an email interview with Billboard, The King of Country reveals he is not handling it well.

He said, “I took almost two years off after the Cowboy Rides Away tour [ended in 2014]. I did that on purpose. I wasn’t ready for this. I was really enjoying playing again at a pace I could handle. To have this horrible thing come up and slap us all right in the face really sucks. I can’t wait to play with my band again in front of thousands of people. I’m addicted to that.”

Despite being forced to stay home, Strait has started to get some new ideas for a new album, but nothing concrete yet.

When asked what he’s been doing during the quarantine and he revealed he’d just been spending time with the family, but also recovering from surgery. Turns out he had a knee replacement before quarantine started.

“I had a knee replaced right before the quarantine. I had been planning that for a while. It went very well but I had to rehab on my own due to the obvious conditions,” he said.

Strait also assured the publication, “I’m ready to go again now though. All good.”

We’re happy to hear that Strait has fully recovered from his knee replacement! Because we have to wait until next summer to see him in a live show, enjoy his live performance of “Check Yes Or No” below to tide you over until then!
