“The King Of Country” Has A New Album Coming Out In September Called Cowboys And Dreamers
On Friday (May 17), George Strait released the first song from his upcoming album. The album is titled Cowboys and Dreamers, and here’s what we know about it so far.
During his concert at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis on May 4, “The King of Country” announced he’s releasing a new album later this year.
“We are going to do a few new things tonight. We’ve got a new record, it’s called ‘Cowboys and Dreamers.’ It’s going to be coming out soon,” he said.
Strait also performed two new songs that night. He shared a solo track, “Three Drinks Behind,” and a collaboration with his frequent tourmate, Chris Stapleton, called “Honky Tonk Hall of Fame.”
Cowboys and Dreamers will be Strait’s 31st studio album. It will also be his first album released since 2019’s Honky Tonk Time Machine.
That record included songs such as “Sing One With Willie,” “Código,” and “Every Little Honky Tonk Bar.”
George Strait Shares Official Audio For First Song Off Of His New Album
On May 17, Strait shared a few new details about his next album, Cowboys and Dreamers. First, he unveiled the album’s cover art, which shows him standing in a desert landscape while facing away from the camera, guitar in hand.
Strait also shared the album’s release date, which will be September 6. So we only have four months to wait!
Additionally, Strait unveiled the album’s entire tracklist, which features songs with titles such as “To the Moon,” “Calling from the Car,” and “People Get Hurt Sometimes.”

As if that wasn’t exciting enough, Strait also released the first song off Cowboys and Dreamers. The track, titled “MIA Down In MIA,” is a fun-loving tune with a beachy sound.
In it, Strait sings, “I’m going MIA, down in MIA. Take that A1A to where the palm trees sway, with a little hideaway.”
