Gary Allan Shares His Rendition Of A Holiday Classic

Gary Allan was one of the many artists who contributed to the 1996 album A Country Christmas. The album contained holiday performances from artists such as George Strait, George Jones, and Vince Gill.

Allan offered up his rendition of the classic song, “Please Come Home for Christmas.” The track was co-written by blues singer and pianist Charles Brown, who was also the first to record it. His recording was released in 1960.

The Eagles released a famous cover of the song in 1978. Their version reached the 18th spot on the all-genre Billboard Hot 100.

Other artists such as Bon Jovi, Willie Nelson, Kelly Clarkson, and Martina McBride have covered “Please Come Home for Christmas” through the years.

Gary Allan’s “Please Come Home for Christmas” Was Also A Hit

As mentioned previously, Allan released his version of “Please Come Home for Christmas” in 1996. The song received unsolicited airplay, yet still managed to land on the chart.

Allan’s recording peaked at the 70th position on the Hot Country Songs chart following its release.

In 2021, Allan released a Christmas compilation album also titled Please Come Home for Christmas. The album contained his famous version of the song alongside other holiday recordings he made through the years.

Watch Gary Perform “Please Come Home For Christmas” On CMT Campfire Sessions

Also in 2021, Allan was a guest on CMT Campfire Sessions. The program features “intimate” performances from country stars around a campfire.

During his visit on the show, Allan delivered a fireside performance of “Please Come Home for Christmas.” The all-acoustic arrangement and the glow of the campfire gave the performance an extra festive feeling. In other words, it was the perfect setting for the song.

You can check out the video below to watch Allan sing “Please Come Home for Christmas” in front of the fire.
