Dolly Parton Is Searching For The Perfect Person To Play Her In A New Broadway Musical About Her Life
Calling all Dolly Parton fans…you could have the chance to play the iconic country music star in a brand-new Broadway musical!
On Thursday (December 5), Parton announced she’s launching a nationwide casting search for the perfect person to play her in Dolly: An Original Musical.
“I want to give you the chance to help me bring my story to Broadway â and maybe even play me!” Parton shared in a video announcing the news. She said everyone is welcome to audition.
“We’re looking for talented performers who can capture the spirit of my journey, whether you’re an experienced theater professional or an undiscovered gem with that little special something. So, what are you waiting for? This might be your moment to take center stage and step into the spotlight. Break a leg!“
Parton described the new musical as a “celebration” of her songs, her history, and “all the amazing people” in her life.
How You Can Audition To Play Dolly Parton
A press release about the casting call says performers of all ages are invited to audition. The crew is searching for people “to portray Parton at different stages of her incredible life.”
Those auditioning must film a video introducing themselves and singing one minute of their favorite Parton song. Then, upload the video to Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, or X by January 12, 2025. Include the tag #SearchForDolly.
Those who audition also need to complete an application, which you can find here. Applicants younger than 18 must submit their video within that application instead of uploading it to social media.

Once submissions close on January 12, the casting team will review the applications. Afterward, they’ll invite standout performers to New York City for a more formal audition.
