Dolly Parton Shares “Love Note” For Fans After Death Of Her Husband, Carl Dean

Dolly Parton’s Husband, Carl Dean, Died On March 3, 2025
Dolly Parton wanted to share a “love note” with her fans to express her gratitude for their kindness as she mourns the loss of her husband, Carl Dean.
Carl and Dolly married in Ringgold, Georgia, on May 30, 1966. Although he was married to one of country music’s biggest stars, Carl kept out of the spotlight. He only granted one interview throughout their marriage, which he did for their 50th anniversary in 2016.
While Carl remained out of the public eye, Dolly always ensured the world knew how much she loved him. She often gushed about their quality time together, and he even inspired some of her songs.
Sadly, Carl passed away on Monday, March 3, at the age of 82. Dolly’s team shared the news in a heartbreaking statement, which included a quote from Dolly:
“Carl and I spent many wonderful years together. Words can’t do justice to the love we shared for over 60 years. Thank you for your prayers and sympathy.”

Dolly’s namesake theme park, Dollywood, also released a statement about Carl’s death. They said:
“Carl Dean, husband of Dolly Parton, passed away March 3rd in Nashville at the age of 82. Our hearts and prayers are with our Dreamer-in-Chief and her family. The family has asked for privacy during this difficult time.”
Dolly received many supportive comments from fans, friends, and family members. For example, Tanya Tucker shared a sweet story about meeting Carl Dean at Dolly’s house, calling it one of her “most precious memories.”
Dolly Parton Pens “Love Note” To Fans To Thank Them For Their Support
On Thursday (March 6), three days after Carl’s death, Dolly released a new statement. Calling it “a love note,” she expressed how thankful she is to have the support of her family, friends, and fans during this difficult time.
She said:
“This is a love note to family, friends, and fans. Thank you for all the messages, cards, and flowers that you’ve sent to pay your respects for the loss of my beloved husband Carl. I can’t reach out personally to each of you but just know it has meant the world to me.”
She ended her note by writing:
“He is in God’s arms now and I am okay with that. I will always love you. Dolly.”
