Dolly Parton Reveals What She Sacrificed For Her Career
Country legend Dolly Parton is one of the best-selling music artists ever.
Since leaving her small town in the mountains of Tennessee over five decades ago to chase her country music dream, she has sold more than 100 million records, earned 25 number-one singles, and released 44 career Top 10 country albums.
Not to mention the countless awards that she has received over the years in recognition of her incredible accomplishments.
But what often doesn’t get talked about is the sacrifices it takes to reach that level of success.
There’s no question that all the hard work Dolly has put in over the years has paid off. But it didn’t come without a cost. She had to miss out on a lot along the way.

On Monday, May 19, Dolly Parton was honored by the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum with a brand-new exhibit dedicated to her legacy.
During the grand opening, she opened up about some of the sacrifices she made to build the career she has today.
“I’ve sacrificed time with family and friends. I gave up vacations for work without end. 24/7..365…But I was willing to make that sacrifice. But empty or full, I’ve carried my pain. But you don’t drink the water if you don’t dig the well,” Dolly told the audience.

However, she made it clear that when she looks back on everything she’s done. She truly believes it was all worth it in the end.
“Grindstones and rhinestones have made up my life, and you ask, ‘Was it worth the sacrifice?’ Well, I reckon it was because I’m here tonight.”
Dolly’s dedication means so much to the people who admire her. Fans flooded the comments of the video, sharing their love and appreciation for everything she has done to help shape country music.
“She has to be THE most incredible human being and such an inspirational speaker,” one user wrote.
“Dolly is truly a National Treasure! What an iconic woman!” another fan said.
“One of the only people who deserves the moniker of LEGEND,” wrote someone else.
