Darryl Worley Is In Mourning
Country singer Darryl Worley took to Facebook on Thursday (December 11) to announce the heartbreaking news that his longtime tour manager, Joe Morris, had passed away.
“I’m so numb that I haven’t been able to put my thoughts together,” he wrote. “I would like to preface this by saying that it may be a total mess. We lost Joe Morris a couple days ago.”
The “Have You Forgotten?” singer explained that Morris was his “right arm” for almost 20 years. Worley spoke about how his friend cared for him, his wife, and their family in “such an amazing way.”
Like in any close friendship, the two butted heads over the years and got into arguments, but they were always able to come back together because of the mutual love and respect they had for each other.

How Did Joe Morris Pass Away?
In his post, Worley explained that sadly, Joe “made a choice to leave this world before his time.”
“Joe served in the U.S. Army Special Forces and was there in Vietnam in 1969 when American forces saw the most casualties,” Wroley wrote. “Joe was involved in running some incredible missions that have been documented in several different publications, but he’d just as soon you didn’t even know that. He was truly a ‘quiet professional,’ which is another name for the Green Beret. His service was something he never wanted to discuss until he met me. He was one of my heroes, and I have a few. I pounded on him about how he should get his benefits and how he should be proud of his service to this great nation. He did all that and more. Joe even traveled back to the war zones in Afghanistan and Iraq with me several times.”
Unfortunately, like so many veterans, Joe dealt with a lot of PTSD. It was something he had actively been working on throughout his relationship with Worley. So much so that the “I Miss My Friend” singer does not believe that PTSD was the main reason Morris chose to end his own life, but he does believe it was a factor.

“There were a lot of different factors involved, and in the end he lost the battle. I loved him like I love my brothers, and I’m not mad anymore. I’m just broken, empty, and a little bit lost. I’ll be just fine because I have my family and my God. My heart goes out to people that can’t say that,” he wrote.
While heartbroken, Darryl is trying to help Joe’s family through the mourning process as well.
Lisa, Joe’s widower, is a close friend of the Worley’s, who they are trying to help in any way that they can. The family is also close with Joe’s brother, Paul, and sister, Michelle, and Darryl is working with them to plan a celebration of life for their brother.
To wrap up the post, Worley wrote, “Joe Morris was my friend and my brother. We covered a lot of ground together, and we had each other’s back.”

Darryl wrote so many incredible things about Joe that we can’t even sum up, so please read through his Facebook post below, and make sure that you click on all the photos.
