Bonnie Raitt Shares Update After “Medical Situation” That Required Surgery

On April 28, Bonnie Raitt‘s team shared an announcement about her health. They said Raitt had a “medical situation” that required immediate attention.

The team also shared that Raitt would need to undergo surgery.

Because of everything, Raitt was forced to cancel her May 14 appearance at Brandi Carlile’s Mothership Weekend in Miramar Beach. She also postponed four shows and rescheduled them.

Their rescheduled dates are:

• Athens, GA – rescheduled date TBD 2024
• Louisville, KY – rescheduled for June 30, 2023
• Indianapolis, IN – rescheduled for July 1, 2023
• Pittsburgh, PA – rescheduled date TBD 2024

Raitt’s team said she was sincerely sorry about the unexpected cancellation and postponements:

 “It’s always upsetting to have to disappoint her fans, band, crew and our promoters, but sometimes unforeseen things just happen,” they said. “Thankfully, Bonnie’s in great hands. She was so looking forward to these shows…”

At the time, Raitt’s team said she was hoping to be back on tour in June.

Then Monday (May 8), Raitt shared an update on her condition. She had her surgery, and seems to be doing well.

“Hi there, I want to thank you all for your beautiful, caring wishes for my speedy recovery. Everything went really well. My healing is on track and I’m feeling better every day,” Raitt said.

Raitt said she can’t wait to get back to performing soon. She apologized once more for needing to take some time off. “I so appreciate your support and hope you can come see us another time,” she said. At the end of her message, she noted how “grateful” she was to have some good news to share about her health.
