Billy Ray Cyrus & Fiancée Firerose Perform “Long Haired Country Boy” At ACM Honors

Billy Ray Cyrus performed The Charlie Daniels Band’s Iconic Song “Long Haired Country Boy” at the ACM Honors with his fiancée, Firerose.
The ACM Honors were held on Wednesday, August 24th at the historic Ryman Auditorium, and aired on Fox on Monday, September 18th.
What are the ACM Honors?
According to the Academy of Country Music, the “ACM HONORS is a live event held after the ACM Award Show, dedicated to celebrating special award honorees, off-camera category winners, and ACM Industry and Studio Recording Awards.”
At the show, Chris Stapleton was given the rare ACM Triple Crown Award, which goes to a person after they’ve won New Vocalist of the Year, Male/Female Vocalist of the Year, and Entertainer of the Year. The International Award was handed out to Kane Brown, while Clint Black and Mary Chapin Carpenter both earned the Poet’s Award. The Icon Award was given to Tim McGraw.
Tim’s wife, Faith Hill, and two of their three daughters were there to celebrate this high honor!
Many different artists were on hand to pay tribute to all the award recipients, including Lady A, Chris Janson, Trisha Yearwood, and many more.
Additionally, the late Charlie Daniels is receiving the Merle Haggard Spirit Award, which is “presented to a singer-songwriter who is continuing the legacy of Country Music legend Merle Haggard by following his/her own path, crafting great songs, and epitomizing Haggard’s spirit through genuine performances and great storytelling.”
Past Merle Haggard Spirit Award recipients include Miranda Lambert (2015), Eric Church (2016), Dierks Bentley (2017), Toby Keith (2020).

Honoring the late Charlie Daniels, who passed away in July 2020, Billy Ray Cyrus and his new fiancée Firerose teamed up with singer-songwriter Travis Denning to perform “Long Haired Country Boy.”

Daniels released the song in 1974 when it was included on his album Fire on the Mountain. While it wasn’t a certified hit, it has since become a fan-favorite song.
