Singing rodeo queen, Kylie Frey, brought the America’s Got Talent judges and audience to their feet with her touching tribute performance for her grandfather.

In a video released ahead of Wednesday night’s broadcast (August 1) of America’s Got Talent, 28-year-old Kylie Frey introduced herself as a rodeo queen from Opelousas, Louisiana. With deep family roots in the rodeo, Frey said she started singing “The Star-Spangled Banner” at every rodeo she attended.

She told the crowd that it was her grandpa who encouraged her to sing at every opportunity.

“He always told me if I sing the national anthem for every rodeo that I showed up to, one day someone would ask me to sing the national anthem at the [National Finals Rodeo], which is the Super Bowl of rodeo. That’s how I was gonna get my start, because that’s how Reba did and that’s how I was gonna do it too.”

Frey, standing barefoot on the stage, brought out her band to accompany her as she sang “Horses in Heaven,” an original song she wrote for her grandpa.

Viewers won’t know Kylie Frey’s fate until the episode airs Wednesday night, but if crowd and judge reaction is any indication, we’ll be seeing more of this talented country singer.

Kylie Frey isn’t the first country singer to get national attention on America’s Got Talent.

Drake Milligan, Chapel Hart, and Mitch Rossell are just a few of the country talents who graced the AGT stage in recent years. Chapel Hart ended the 2022 season in fifth place after earning a Golden Buzzer during their audition with “You Can Have Him Jolene.”

Drake Milligan had an impressive resume prior to appearing on America’s Got Talent in 2022. Dubbed the Modern Day Elvis, Milligan portrayed the King of Rock ‘n’ Roll in the tv series Sun Records when he was a senior in high school. In 2018, Drake auditioned for American Idol and earned a Golden Ticket to Hollywood. But, the singer quit the show early saying that he wasn’t quite ready for that platform. His run on AGT ended with an impressive third place finish.

Mitch Rossell, an established songwriter and former Garth Brooks opening act, is also competing on the current season of America’s Got Talent, giving this season an impressive lineup of country acts.

Tune in August 22 when the America’s Got Talent live broadcasts begin. In the meantime. Watch Mitch Rossell’s audition in the video below.
