Crystal Gayle Forced To Cancel Overseas Show

Country music legend Crystal Gayle unfortunately had to cancel a show scheduled for Tuesday (January 13) in Belfast.

Gayle was supposed to perform during the FOLK iN FUSION: Nashville to Belfast opening concert at the Your Roots Are Showing conference. Additionally, she planned to participate in on-stage programming throughout the conference week.

Gayle’s team issued a press release on January 10 to explain why she had to withdraw from the event. As the press release detailed, Gayle tore the meniscus in her knee. Because of her injury, Gayle’s doctor advised her not to travel overseas.

While she is disappointed to miss the trip, her medical team has been clear that overseas travel is not currently possible as she focuses on recovery,” Gayle’s team explained.

The press release contained a statement from Gayle herself. She said:

I was truly looking forward to coming to Belfast—singing a few songs, sharing some stories, and spending time with everyone. But my doctor tells me this knee isn’t ready for those overseas miles just yet. I promise I’ll be ‘Ready for the Times to Get Better’—just not at 30,000 feet next week. Thank you for your understanding, and I hope we can make it up to you soon.”

Gayle hopes to return to the UK and Ireland someday, once she’s medically cleared to do so.
