The Simple Song That Changed Jimmy’s Life

In 1977, Jimmy Buffett released a song that would change the course of his life forever. That song, titled “Margaritaville,” was inspired by its namesake drink and the influx of tourists in Key West, Florida, at the time.

The result was a fun, tropical song about a man who finds himself enjoy a laid-back and easy lifestyle, with his favorite margarita never far from reach.

The song was a huge hit, and claimed the top spot on the U.S.’s Easy Listening chart. It was also a big success on the Billboard Hot 100, where it climbed as high as the eighth spot.

Today, “Margaritaville” remains Buffett’s most successful and most well-known song.

Jimmy Makes Margaritaville A Real Vacation Destination

Due to “Margaritaville’s” overwhelming popularity, Buffett has framed his entire career around the song, with many products now carrying its name. Just a few of those many products include apparel, outdoor furniture, chips and salsa, and of course, alcoholic drinks.

Not to mention, there is also an entire series of Margaritaville-themed resorts, including ones in Costa Rica, Florida, and Tennessee.

In Georgia, vacationers can also enjoy a little slice of paradise called Margaritaville at Lanier Islands. While there is no resort on the property, visitors can bring their RV to camp. Or, they can simply soak up the sun on the beach or at the water park and then be on their merry way!

But for those looking for the full Margaritaville experience at Lanier Islands, there’s a perfect activity for you to take part in…the Margaritaville Booze Cruise.
