Riley Keough Puts Up Resistance Against Paying Debt On UK Home Formerly Owned By Her Late Mother, Lisa Marie Presley

According to Us Weekly, Riley Keough resists paying debt on a UK home previously owned by her late mother, Lisa Marie Presley.

Lisa Marie, the only child of Elvis and Priscilla Presley, died on January 12, 2023 at the age of 54. Her survivors include her three daughters, Riley Keough, Harper Lockwood, and Finley Lockwood.

Lisa Marie’s only son, Benjamin Keough, preceded her in death in 2020.

After Lisa Marie passed away, Riley and her grandmother Priscilla entered a legal battle over her estate. Riley became the sole trustee of the estate, and will oversee the sub-trusts for her younger sisters.

Additionally, Riley became the sole heir of Elvis’ Graceland in Memphis, Tennessee.

As the trustee of her mother’s estate, Riley has found herself in another legal contest. Us Weekly reports the 34-year-old actress filed legal documents resisting Barclays Bank’s request for her to pay back $1.6 million in debt.

According to these documents, Lisa Marie obtained a loan from Barclays to purchase the Coes Hall estate in Rotherfield, England in 2010. Barclays claims Lisa Marie promised to pay back the loan before she passed away.

Lisa Marie actually sold her Coes Hall estate in 2021 after it spent five years on the market.

Now, Riley states she should not be held liable for the $1.6 million debt. She cited a statute of limitations, which required Barclays to make their claim by January 12 (the first anniversary of Lisa Marie’s passing). Additionally, Riley claims her mother only guaranteed loan interest payments for a five year period, from 2010-2015.
