Reba McEntire Is Going To Be The New Coach On The Voice

In case you haven’t been made aware of the news, Reba McEntire is joining The Voice as a coach for Season 24! She is replacing Blake Shelton as the resident country coach on the panel. Shelton is leaving after the Season 23 finale next week.

McEntire previously served as Shelton’s advisor during Season 1 of The Voice. She recently returned to work as the Mega Mentor for all four coaches’ teams while they prepared for the knockouts.

The Voice just made the announcement about McEntire joining the show on Monday (May 15). Her fellow coaches will be Niall Horan, Gwen Stefani, and John Legend.

Reba Takes A Seat In Blake’s Voice Chair For The First Time

Since The Voice was airing a new, live episode that night, McEntire stopped by to celebrate her new role on the show. In one hilarious moment, McEntire was seen lounging in Shelton’s red chair next to the other coaches.

Host Carson Daly started speaking as if nothing was amiss. But then he pretended to be surprised to see McEntire in Shelton’s place!

In a sense, this was Voice viewers’ first time seeing McEntire take a spin in one of the coach’s chairs. (She didn’t actually spin her chair, but you know what we mean!)

Daly shared the news about McEntire being a coach next season, saying, “If you don’t know, now you know. Reba is gonna be in this chair next season on The Voice, it’s official.”

He asked McEntire what she’s looking forward to the most. She responded:

I’m looking forward to being here with all y’all. You’ve treated me so nicely…and to be able to come in and form my team, I’m so looking forward to it.”

Then Shelton emerged from the side, and asked McEntire, “Do you mind? I still have a week left.”

McEntire didn’t want to get up! “I like this chair,” she told Shelton. She eventually let him take a seat, but not before giving him a big hug.

Watch McEntire sit in Shelton’s Voice chair for the first time by tuning in to the video below. We’re excited to see what she’ll be like as a coach!
