Fans of Reba McEntire’s original self-titled sitcom were thrilled when it was announced that she would be starring in and producing a brand-new show. Happy’s Place made its debut on NBC on October 18th, 2024. An impressive 4.026 million viewers tuned in to watch the pilot episode.

Happy’s Place follows Bobbie, played by McEntire, as she inherits her late father’s restaurant and discovers she has a secret half-sister, Isabella. Bobbie navigates conflict with her newfound family member and wrestles with the realization that her father lived a double life.

An all-star cast lends their talents to the new show, including former Reba star Melissa Peterman, McEntire’s real-life boyfriend, Rex Linn, and Yellowstone actor Tokala Black Elk.

Reba stars, including Steve Howey, reunite on the set of Happy’s Place

In October, it was announced that former Reba cast member Steve Howey would make an appearance in the new sitcom. The actor previously portrayed McEntire’s on-screen son-in-law, Van Montgomery.

Howey finally made his Happy’s Place debut on the December 6th episode titled “Ho-Ho-Howey.” His character, Danny, is a friend of Melissa Peterman’s Gabby, who shows up to a company party at the tavern. It is revealed that Gabby lied to Danny about her role at the restaurant. Consequently, the staff must go to extreme, and comical, lengths to hide her secret.

The 47-year-old told TV Insider about the moment when creator Kevin Abbott reached out about joining Reba McEntire’s new show. His answer was an emphatic yes. He recalled:

“This was an opportunity to reacquaint with some people that I adore that I grew up with – Reba McEntire and Melissa Peterman. I’ve always said that Reba has the Midas touch. [She’s] an amazing person, and a mentor for me. So [when] Kevin asked me to come on, I was like, “Dude, are you kidding? Tell me when.”
