Parton is no stranger to this gig. She co-hosted the ACM Awards in 2022 with Jimmie Allen and Gabby Barrett. Parton also hosted the ceremony solo in 2000.

But Brooks is new to all of this! It’s his first time ever hosting the ACM Awards, or any major awards show for that matter. Though he knows he’s in good hands with Parton as his co-host.

“I mean, you’ve got your foundation and what you’re looking for here,” Brooks said about Parton while speaking to Billboard. “You’ve got talent and class. Let’s represent country music the best that we can.”

Garth & Dolly Are Already Shaping Up To Be A Hilarious Team

The ACM Awards are still three weeks away, but Brooks and Parton are already shaping up to be quite the duo. They put their comedic chops on full display in a new promo clip the ACM released on April 18.

Brooks enters Parton’s dressing room and tells her he’s a bit nervous, with this being his first time and all. That’s when things take a funny turn, as Parton says not to worry, because she’s done this “plenty of times with plenty of people.” She also vows to “make this the best night” of Brooks’ life.

We’re talking about hosting the ACM award show right?” Brooks asks sheepishly.

Reba McEntire Gives Garth Advice As He Prepares To Host The ACM Awards

Someone who knows a lot about hosting the ACM Awards is Reba McEntire. She’s hosted the ceremony a record-breaking 16 times, with most of those times being without a co-host.

The last time McEntire hosted the ACM Awards was in 2019. She’s also hosted the CMA Awards before, most recently in 2020.

Needless to say, McEntire may be the best person out there to give Brooks some pointers as he prepares to host his first ACM Awards ceremony.

Brooks and McEntire have a friendship that stretches back decades. He even wrote the foreword for her upcoming book, Nothing Fancy. They recently promoted the book through a joint appearance on TalkShopLive.

During their chat, Brooks asked McEntire for her best advice when it comes to hosting the ACM Awards. She told him. “The best tip I can give you is, get out there and have fun.”

McEntire continued:

“When I was first doing the hosting situations, I would be so uptight and precise, and it was not as much fun for me and therefore it’s not as much fun for the audience. But when you get out there and cut up and have a good time — which I know you guys will, I can’t wait to watch the show — you guys’ll have a blast.”

Sounds like solid advice! Look below to watch McEntire’s opening monologue from the last ACM Awards she hosted in 2019.
