Randy Travis Recalls How Charley Pride Changed His Soul

Randy Travis wrote an emotional response to Charley Pride’s death that offers fans a glimpse into the pair’s friendship.

“How often do you befriend a soul that changes yours?” Travis shared with his Facebook followers.

Travis revealed that it was Pride who reassured Travis that he could find a home in Nashville. Travis also explained that Pride’s Christmas Party, which occurred every January, was his favorite holiday tradition. The country icon stated:

“They visited Mary and I, and we felt like royalty. They invited us to their home for their annual company Christmas party—themed and dreamed by Rozene. It became our favorite Christmas tradition… in January!”

Travis praised Pride’s perseverance and the “eternal gift” that he has left behind. Notably, the last paragraph of the share tugs at the readers’ heartstrings. Travis wrote:

“While you find rest in Heaven, we will celebrate your life, legacy, and service down here. We’ll take care of ‘Charley’s Angel’, Rozene; and we will never remember our birthdays, without you! Love you forever and ever—”
