On June 17, Oak Ridge Boys member Joe Bonsall shared he would not be performing during the group’s upcoming shows. He said he was experiencing “health issues,” though didn’t specify what those issues were:

There has been some concern for me and yes I AM having some health issues, that’s why I was looking a bit weak at the shows last week I will not be out with the guys this weekend but brother RUDY GATLIN will be filling in Should be fun!!!” Bonsall said.

He ended his message by saying he will “be ok” and thanked everyone for praying for him.

Bonsall continued to respond to friends, fans, and media outlets on Twitter over the coming days. He specifically thanked Larry the Cable Guy for his prayers, and told him he’s going to “get through this.”

Then on Monday (June 20), Bonsall revealed the severity of his health issues. He said:

I could have easily died last weekend but God is not through with me yet … I am home now after 6 days in the hospital battling pulmonary embolisms …

Bonsall said his recovery “could take awhile.” But he feels as though he’s “on the better side now.

Bonsall’s latest update received a response from fellow Oak Ridge Boys member William Lee Golden, who said:

Praying for God’s Blessings on @joebonsall today Our Singing Partner @oakridgeboys we miss you.”

Thank you my friend and brother … I am on the mend man … love you,” Bonsall said in response.

We too, join the many people who are praying for Bonsall’s quick and complete recovery. Hopefully we’ll be able to see him sing again soon.
