Miranda Lambert’s 2023 CMA Award Nomination For Female Vocalist Of The Year Ties Record Held By Martina McBride
Nominees for the 2023 CMA Awards were revealed on Thursday (September 7). Miranda Lambert earned just one nomination this year, but she tied a record set by a country music icon in the process.
Lambert’s only nomination at the 2023 CMA Awards is for Female Vocalist of the Year. Her fellow nominees include Lainey Wilson, Carly Pearce, Ashley McBryde, and Kelsea Ballerini. Wilson won the trophy last year.

Lambert has won the award for Female Vocalist of the Year seven times before. She won every year from 2010-2015 and last took home the trophy in 2017. Notably, Lambert holds the record for the most wins in the category.
Miranda Lambert Now Has 17 Nominations For CMA Female Vocalist Of The Year
Lambert’s 2023 nomination for Female Vocalist of the Year pushes her total number of nods in the category to 17. She now ties Martina McBride for the second highest number of nominations for the award.
Like Lambert, McBride has earned 17 nominations for Female Vocalist of the Year. She won the trophy four times. Her first win came in 1999, followed by wins in every year from 2002-2004.
But If Miranda & Martina Are Tied In Second, Who’s Been Nominated For Female Vocalist The Most?
That’s a good question…and we have the answer. While Lambert and McBride each earned 17 nominations for Female Vocalist of the Year, another artist has more nominations than them. That artist is none other than…Reba McEntire.
McEntire has been nominated for the CMA’s Female Vocalist of the Year award an impressive total of 18 times. She won four times, with her wins occurring every year between 1984-1987.
Time will tell if Lambert will one day meet or surpass McEntire’s record!
Congratulations to Lambert on securing another history-making CMA Award nomination. Tune in to the CMA Awards on November 8 to see if she wins Female Vocalist of the Year.
