Mark Chesnutt has had a rough go of it lately. The “Bubba Shot the Jukebox” singer cancelled a few shows in early June due to illness. Later in the month, Chesnutt canceled additional shows due to a back injury.

A press release issued in early July indicated that Chesnutt needed to undergo an “urgent” back surgery as a result of his injury:

“I’ve been suffering with this for a very long time, and postponed as long as I could,” Chesnutt said. “When the doctor says: ‘you have no choice,’ you have no choice!  I hate to get off the road, just as the venues opened back up. I was really looking forward to this year! I appreciate the support and understanding from my fans, and I’ll see you all real soon.”

Chesnutt ended up cancelling 24 shows. His surgery was on July 22, and “everything went as planned.”
