Prior to his surgery, Lynn’s wife, Crystal, shared details of the surgery and of his recent medical history. She wrote that Ernie had previously underwent two surgeries for kidney failure and dialysis – one surgery took place two weeks ago and the other in the fall. She shared that the surgeries “didn’t yield good results” so he would be undergoing another.

“It is a life saving and life sustaining operation, so we desperately need it to work this time so that they don’t have to take more drastic measures,” Crystal wrote.

She concluded with a request for prayer regarding the surgery and her husband’s recovery.

“PLEASE pray for guidance for the doctors so that they may put this new device in a place that it works perfectly, as well as to pray for my husband and that he makes it through surgery with flying colors, that he heals quickly and completely, and that he finds good health and enjoyment out of life once again.”

An update posted after the surgery notes that it went well, but they won’t know if it was successful until Thursday afternoon.

Ernie is the fourth child born to Loretta and Doolittle Lynn. The 72-year-old has had his own success as a country singer and regularly toured with his mother. Ernie was featured on some of his mom’s early gospel recordings including 1965’s “When I Hear My Children Pray,” “Mama, Why?” from 1968 and the 1972 recording of “Working For the Lord.”

Our thoughts and prayers are with Ernie Lynn and we wish him a full and speedy recovery.
