Loretta Lynn’s daughter’s battle with mouth cancer continues as she undergoes surgery
Clara Marie Lynn, known as “Cissie,” has had a recent cancer recurrence and went to Vanderbilt Hospital in Nashville, TN today (Feb 12) for surgical treatment. The Lynn family shared an update across Loretta Lynn’s social media pages and asked fans for prayers. They wrote:
“Cissie is undergoing a critical surgery in her battle against a recently reoccurring cancer. Your prayers for Cissie and her family would mean so much to us.”
Cissie Lynn says she is “emotional and scared” ahead of surgery
In an update shared on her own Facebook page last night (Feb 11), Cissie reveals that it has been about 10 years since the last time she battled the disease but that her condition is worse this time. She writes:
“I donât know what to say because Iâm way [too] emotional and scared this time all Iâm asking if you donât mind would you be please say a prayer for me if you can [find] it in your heart. God how I wish my sweet mama could just hold me tonight.”Â
Cissie Lynn is the third child of Loretta and Oliver “Doolittle” Lynn
Cissie, who is 71 years old, followed in her mother’s musical footsteps. She pursued a country music career in her early-adult years and in 2011, released a full album of Loretta Lynn hits called The Daughter of the Coal Miner’s Daughter.
In recent years, Cissie has maintained a relatively low profile, staying involved with managing the Loretta Lynn Ranch and supporting her mother’s legacy.

Loretta Lynn’s son Ernest also experienced a recent health scare
In January, Ernest “Ernie” Ray underwent emergency life-saving surgery as a result of kidney failure. The family shared an update which read:
âToday, Lorettaâs son Ernest Ray underwent a critical surgery as a result of kidney failure. In moments like these we are reminded that all that really matters is faith and family. We would love to know you are praying with us for Ernie.”Â
A few days later, Ernie’s wife Crystal shared an update that the surgery was successful and that Ernie would be able to go home and rest. She expresses ample gratitude to God and thanks her support system for their prayers.
Please join us in praying for Cissie and the Lynn family during this time. Â
