On Tuesday, August 30th, country legend Loretta Lynn and her family honored a special person in her life.

In a social media post, Lynn announced to her 257,000 followers that her very special friend, Gloria, had passed away. The Lynn family hosted a celebration of life at the Lynn’s ranch, specifically the Coal Miner’s Daughter Museum.

The graphic Lynn shared read, “Celebrating the life of Gloria Jean Land. The Lynn family wishes to invite you to come join them in celebrating the life of a beloved member, at a special tribute memorial to be held in her honor!”

While she might not be blood related, Lynn says Gloria “gave her all to the Lynn family and she became family.”

From what she wrote in her post, it seems that Gloria helped Lynn with her children while she was on the road performing for countless fans.

“I can never put into words how much I love her. My kids loved her without end. She loved my kids like they were her own and I never could have been on the road without the peace of mind having her with them gave me,” Lynn wrote.

The country legend said, “Our hearts hurt that she’s gone,” before explaining that the photo she posted was from last Christmas, and neither of them had any idea that it would be the last photo of them together.

She also called herself and Gloria “friends who have become sisters.”

Our thoughts and prayers are with Gloria’s family and friends.
