The CMA Awards are full of life, music, and entertainment. This year, a country legend joined the list of country star performances – and it was absolutely magical.

A Country Legend

Any true fan of country music knows the classic star, Ricky Skaggs. Born in Cordell, Kentucky in 1954 – Skaggs grew up surrounded by the likes of country royalty. As a young boy, he played alongside Flatt & Scruggs, Emmylou Harris and as he grew up he became close friends with Keith Whitley.

He even recently got the chance to play on the same mandolin The Father of Bluegrass, Bill Monroe had let him play as a young boy. During his induction into the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum, the legend was visibly taken back by the beautiful, iconic moment.

A True Gift

Despite Skaggs being so well known in the community, he stays gracious through it all. When Skaggs found out he would be performing at the awards ceremony, he was more than grateful. While many artists have been inspired by Skaggs, he was incredibly humble when announcing his performance at the CMA Awards ceremony.

He told social media, “What a gift it is to be performing on this year’s CMA Award show! I’ve been on this show many times during my career, but this show will be the most memorable. It’s hard to believe a 64-year-old could be on a show with so many young country artists. God is faithful and good.”

Despite being one of the most influential musicians of our time, it was great to see how humble and excited this country legend was to be gracing us with his talents.

A Performance Like You’ve Never Seen

We knew that his performance would be a great one, but we never expected something so magical to happen.

After playing alone with his band, he was joined by country super-stars, Keith Urban, Brad Paisley, Sierra Hill, Marty Stuart, and Carson Peters!

You can watch his epic performance below and let us know what you think in the comments!
