In the wake of legendary singer-songwriter and actor Kris Kristofferson’s passing, the music world has been mourning the loss of one of its most influential figures.
Consequently, many artists have been finding ways to honor his memory, and among those paying tribute is Grammy-winning artist LeAnn Rimes. She recently honored Kristofferson’s memory with an emotional performance of his classic song “Help Me Make It Through the Night.”
Kris Kristofferson, known for his profound impact on country music and his multifaceted career in entertainment, passed away on Saturday (September 28) at his home in Hawaii. He was 88 years old and surrounded by his loving family in his final moments.
LeAnn Rimes, who has long admired Kristofferson’s work, took to social media to express her grief. On X, she wrote:
“An epic human with the biggest heart. You will be so, so missed. Rest easy, my friend.”

Moreover, the connection between Rimes and Kristofferson’s music runs deep. Back in 2011, Rimes released her twelfth studio album, Lady and Gentlemen, which featured a collection of covers originally written by or for male artists. Among these carefully selected tracks was Kristofferson’s 1970 “Help Me Make It Through the Night.” Additionally, the project includes other classics like Merle Haggard’s “The Bottle Let Me Down” and George Jones’s “He Stopped Loving Her Today.”
Kristofferson himself once praised Rimes’ interpretation of his song, saying, “I’ve always loved the way LeAnn sings, and she beautifully makes ‘Help Me Make It Through the Night’ her own.”
In a touching tribute to Kristofferson’s legacy, Rimes performed a song for him shortly after the news of his passing broke. During one of her recent shows while touring, she sang “Help Me Make It Through the Night.”
Reflecting on this emotional moment, Rimes wrote:
“I had to honor the great legacy of Kris Kristofferson at my show last night. God, what a storyteller and master wordsmith. Of course, I cried! His music, spirit, and heart will live on forever.”
