Garth Brooks has been accused of sexual misconduct by his former makeup artist and stylist.
In a lawsuit filed Thursday (October 3), the plaintiff accuses Garth Brooks of rape, sexual assault, and battery. Listed only as “Jane Roe,” the accuser claims that Brooks raped her while on a work trip in 2019.
CNN reported earlier today that Brooks filed a lawsuit in mid-September as “John Doe,” asking the courts to declare an accuser’s allegations untrue before she ever went public with them. The female accuser responded by asking the court to deny John Doe’s requests to remain anonymous, saying, that he should not receive special treatment due to his celebrity status and is an âalleged sexual assault predator.”
âMr. Doe believes that he is entitled to the same protection victims receive â not to prevent unnecessary re-traumatization, but rather, to maintain his celebrity âreputation,ââ the accuserâs attorney said in a statement released to CNN this week.
At the time of his filing last month, Brooks (as John Doe) claimed that “Jane Roe” was attempting to extort him through âuntrue, lewd allegationsâ and âoutrageous conduct.â
âDefendantâs allegations are not true,â Doeâs lawsuit stated. âDefendant is well aware, however, of the substantial, irreparable damage such false allegations would do to Plaintiffâs well-earned reputation as a decent and caring person, along with the unavoidable damage to his family and the irreparable damage to his career and livelihood that would result if she made good on her threat to âpublicly fileâ her fabricated lawsuit.â
In the lawsuit filed by “Jane Roe” Thursday, John Doe’s identity was revealed as Garth Brooks.
The lawsuit states that the Roe started working for Trisha Yearwood in 1999, and Garth became her client in 2017.
THIS IS A DEVELOPING STORY.
