LeAnn Rimes was one of many fans who honored Tanya Tucker Sunday (October 23) as she was officially inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame.

Tanya Tucker and LeAnn Rimes have much in common. Both were only 13 when they found country music success and know the struggles of growing up in the spotlight. Tanya Tucker’s 1972 single “Delta Dawn” put her on the genre’s map, while LeAnn Rimes made her mark in 1996 with the Patsy Cline-esque song “Blue.”

It seemed only fitting that Rimes, now 41, would pay tribute to the woman who helped pave the way for her own success with a touching tribute performance.

In a video posted to social media, a barefooted LeAnn is seen sitting in a rocking chair backstage. Accompanied only by a guitar, she flawlessly sang Tanya Tucker’s 1987 hit, “Love Me Like You Used To.” She concluded the cover with a shoutout to Tanya, saying, “We love you, Tanya! Congratulations on getting into the Country Music Hall of Fame. You are so deserving and you’re my sister. I love you so much.”

The lead single for the album of the same name, the song reached #2 on the Billboard Hot Country Singles Chart. Just two years prior, Johnny Cash recorded the song for his album, Rainbow.

During her hour-long induction segment, Tanya, 65, was praised as country music’s “wild child” and one of the greatest female country artists of all time. Many of Tucker’s longtime friends and fellow artists were in attendance to help her celebrate, with some of them taking the stage to perform.

Jessi Colter and Margo Price sang Tanya’s 1992 release, “It’s A Little Too Late,” and Brandi Carlile took the stage to cover “Two Sparrows In A Hurricane,” also a 1992 single from Tucker.

Wynonna Judd, who was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2022, beautifully performed Tucker’s breakout single, “Delta Dawn.”

Last year, during one of the last stops on The Judds: The Final Tour in 2022, Tanya Tucker joined Wynonna on stage in Charleston, West Virginia, to sing “Delta Dawn.” The performance from the two powerhouse vocalists was captured on camera and shows Tanya singing her hit tune then leading the crowd in a singalong. Wynonna then joins in to deliver her best Tanya Tucker impersonation. Watch their memorable performance below.
