Larry Gatlin Reveals He Underwent Back Surgery

Country singer Larry Gatlin is known for his songs “Broken Lady,” “All the Gold In California,” and “Talkin’ To The Moon” as well as his band Larry Gatlin and the Gatlin Brothers. He’s also very outspoken on social media, so when he revealed he had surprise back surgery, his fans were very concerned.

Fortunately, the surgery went well and he is already walking. On Friday (Dec. 15), Gatlin shared a video from his hospital room revealing the news.

“Y’all know that I’m kind of a nut bag, but I want to be serious for just a minute. I had back surgery today in Nashville,” he said while wearing a hospital gown. “I want to thank my Heavenly physician the Lord, Christ and my earthly physician, Dr. McCord and all his staff.”

The surgery was a huge success because Gatlin says he is already pain-free!

“My back doesn’t hurt anymore, I just walked three little circles around here. No pain shooting down the back of my legs and I’m grateful for your prayers and now that I’m doing a lot better, pray for those folks out there who don’t have the money or the insurance or time to take days off to get this fixed. I love you, I thank you for your support. Merry Christmas.”

Even though he was confided to a hospital for a few days, he didn’t lose his sense of humor! Giving an update via Facebook video, Gatlin was walking slowly around the hospital with the help of his nurse.

“Hi folks, Larry Gatlin here,” he said. “I need to be quiet, I’m in the hospital. This is my first little walk and this is my angel of mercy, Angela. And this is…a bag of urine.”

Immediately Angela burst into laughter as the video cut off.
