Kix Brooks Hints that New Brooks & Dunn Music Is On the Way

Brooks & Dunn’s last album with all-new original music was Cowboy Town, released in 2007.

It’s been a big year for Country Music Hall of Famers Kix Brooks and Ronnie Dunn. Earlier this year, the duo revealed they would be hitting the road once again, with their Neon Moon tour set to begin in the spring of 2025.

Not only that but they also dropped their highly anticipated album Reboot II in November. The collection of songs follows their 2019 album Reboot, which featured reimagined versions of their classic hits, with modern country stars collaborating to give the songs a fresh spin.

With the second installment of the album, 18 new artists joined each track, including features from Lainey Wilson, Jelly Roll, and Morgan Wallen.

But, with all of the recent excitement surrounding the 19-time CMA Award winners, Brooks & Dunn haven’t released an album of never-before-heard tracks in nearly 17 years.  According to Kix Brooks though, that could change pretty soon.

Kix Brooks Says That the Odds of New Music Is “Pretty Good”

While speaking to Billboard about what fans can expect from the duo in the near future, Kix Brooks mentioned that there’s a good chance Brooks & Dunn will come out with new music in the next two years:

“In the next two years? I’d say pretty good… I’m sure Ronnie’s got his own idea of how that could work. But I know he’s been writing a lot of songs. He’s sending me songs all the time. Ronnie’s fired up about getting into that. And I’m certainly not going to hold him back, and I will do my best to keep up and do my part.”

It seems the duo is truly focusing on creating new music and planning their future endeavors. This shift became even more apparent when Kix Brooks announced he would be stepping down from hosting American Country Countdown after 18 years to dedicate more time to his work with Brooks & Dunn.

In a statement, Brooks shared the news to his longtime listeners:

“The fact that I have been supported by hundreds of affiliates and an amazing team of radio professionals for 18 years has made this one of the greatest experiences of my professional life. It’s time to turn my primary focus back to writing, recording and touring with Brooks & Dunn. It’s been an honor, to say the least, that I was trusted with a microphone that had such an iconic history. Special thanks to all the fans who listened and participated, to ensure that I was being the best that I could be. Keep counting ’em down!“

We can’t wait to see what Brooks & Dunn has up their sleeves for the future!
