Kenny Rogers’ public memorial will be delayed due to the current coronavirus pandemic.

A statement from the family released to the public stated:

“The family is planning a small private service at this time out of concern for the national COVID-19 emergency.  They look forward to celebrating Kenny’s life publicly with his friends and fans at a later date.”

The legendary country artist passed away Friday (March 20). He was 81.

Rogers’ family broke the heartbreaking news on social media the morning after his death saying:

“The Rogers family is sad to announce that Kenny Rogers passed away last night at 10:25PM at the age of 81. Rogers passed away peacefully at home from natural causes under the care of hospice and surrounded by his family.”

The news came as quite a shock to many and there was no shortage of love and support from those who loved him.

In a video posted to her social media, Dolly Parton admitted she “couldn’t believe it.

“I loved Kenny with all my heart…And my heart is broken. A big ol’ chunk of it has gone with him today,” she said in the video with tears in her eyes.

Reba posted this sweet sentiment below.

Travis Tritt shared what an amazing friend Kenny was to him.

Rogers’ family was overwhelmed with the outpouring of love and support, stating it is such a beautiful reminder of the positive impact he had and will continue to have on so many.
