The show premiered on Monday, February 23rd, and featured some excellent singers.

One Of The Standout Blind Auditions Came From 19-Year-Old Julia Golden

Julia Golden, who hails from Carthage, North Carolina, put her best foot forward during her Blind Audition of this season of The Voice. Performing for coaches of this caliber couldn’t have been easy, but she nailed her audition!

She performed Deanna Carter’s “Strawberry Wine,” and all three coaches were intrigued from the very first note. While Clarkson was singing along and battling with herself on whether to turn her chair or not, John Legend took a risk and pressed his button for her, knowing that Clarkson would likely follow suit.

While it took a little while, Clarkson did press her button and turn for Golden. But as she and Legend were fighting for the singer to choose them as their coach, Legend pulled out something nobody expected: and endorsement from Reba McEntire!

A video popped up on the screen behind Golden, which featured Reba McEntire saying, “Hey, I’m Reba McEntire. People have asked me, ‘Can John Legend coach a country artist?’ Heck yeah! I wish he could coach me. He’s absolutely fantastic, he’s a genius, he can do anything.  He plays, he sings, he mentors. I know, I’m the Queen of country music, and I endorse John Legend. I approve this message!”

Clarkson, who has close familial ties to McEntire, was immediately shocked by the video and picked up her phone to call the legend right then and there. The “Fancy” singer answered the phone, so Clarkson began saying she couldn’t believe the video she just saw, and the country legend told her former daughter-in-law, “Calm down, girl!”

In the end, the call to Reba may have worked, because Golden chose Clarkson as her coach!
