After news spread that 90s country legend Joe Diffie has sadly passed away from complications with the novel coronavirus, COVID-19, tributes began flooding social media.
The family made a statement about his death on his official social media channels just two days after revealing he had tested positive for COVID-19 and was receiving treatment.
Joe is survived by his wife Tara and five children, Parker, Kara, Drew, Tyler, and Kylie.
He and Tara were married on May 26, 2018 at the Musician’s Hall of Fame in Nashville, Tennessee.
On Tuesday (March 31), Tara took to both her husband and her own Instagram pages to share a couple intimate moments from their wedding day, paying tribute to the man she said is “the love of her life.”
On her own page, she shared a photo from their first dance, which was to Ed Sheeran’s “Perfect” and quoted some of the lyrics.
On Joe’s Instagram, she shared a video from later in the evening, when they took over the VIP area at famous Nashville honky tonk Tootsies Orchid Lounge.
“This was our wedding night,” Tara wrote. “@tootsies_orchid_lounge let us have the VIP area. They recognized Joe right away and he sang. This was one of the best nights of my life.”
Joe jumped on stage, with his new bride by his side, and sang “John Deere Green.”
