Dolly Parton, Country Legend, Now Rock Star

Dolly Parton initially had reservations when she received the news of her nomination for induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2022. Initially, she attempted to remove herself from consideration, but the Hall informed her that it was not possible. After contemplating the matter, Parton came to the realization that artists from all genres can find a place in the Rock Hall. Consequently, she changed her mind about the nomination and eventually became an inductee during a ceremony held in November of that year.

Following her induction, Parton made a promise to her fans that she would release a rock album. Wasting no time, she began work on the project.

The album will feature an impressive collection of 30 songs, comprising of both originals and covers. Notably, many of these songs will involve renowned collaborators such as Stevie Nicks, Elton John, Miley Cyrus, Lizzo, and Sting. Parton even managed to enlist the participation of surviving Beatles members Ringo Starr and Paul McCartney, as well as Peter Frampton and Mick Fleetwood, for a cover of “Let It Be.”

Additionally, Parton will be paying tribute to Lynyrd Skynyrd by covering their iconic track “Freebird.” Her rendition includes the guitar stylings of the late Gary Rossington, who passed away in March. The recording also features former band member Artimus Pyle and incorporates vocals from the late lead singer Ronnie Van Zant. The band expressed their excitement upon hearing Parton’s recording, saying, “Can’t wait to hear Dolly’s rendition of Freebird!!!”

Rockstar is scheduled for release on November 17 and is currently available for pre-order!

Parton closed out the 2023 ACM Awards with the lead single from her album, titled, “World On Fire.” It is a powerful song, that had everyone on their feet, and was quite possibly the best moment of the show.

One of her many collaborators on the album is Kid Rock, for a song titled “Either Or.” Once the track listing was released, the Internet was set ablaze with reactions to this pairing. If you remember, Kid Rock had a fiery reaction to the Bud Light drama.
