Grand Ole Opry Prepares Album Of “Country’s Greatest Songs”

The Grand Ole Opry has united Marty Robbins‘ and Marty Stuart’s voices to create a one-of-a-kind duet.

2025 has been a monumental year for the Opry, as it marks its 100th anniversary. They’ve been celebrating with special performances, products, tribute shows, and even an NBC TV special.

The celebration will continue through the end of the year. In November, the Opry will release an exclusive new album, Opry 100: Country’s Greatest Songs. The project will toss a spotlight on some of the greatest songs in country music history, including “Fancy” and “Forever and Ever, Amen.”

The album’s tracks were all recorded during past live performances on the Opry stage. Some of the songs are “duets,” which the Opry created using technology to blend two artists’ vocal performances.

For example, the Opry already released the album’s recording of “He Stopped Loving Her Today.” The recording combines George Jones’ older performance with more modern vocals from Alan Jackson.

Hear Marty Robbins & Marty Stuart Sing “El Paso” Together In New Mashup

The Opry used the same mashup tactic to create a duet between Marty Robbins and Marty Stuart. They blended recordings of the two Martys singing Robbins’ iconic Western ballad, “El Paso.”

Despite being born 33 years apart, Stuart and Robbins have always shared a connection. Stuart was named after Robbins because the “White Sport Coat” singer was Stuart’s mother’s favorite artist.

Robbins died in 1982 when Stuart was only 24 years old. They never got the chance to sing “El Paso” together in person, but the power of technology has finally made such a duet possible.

The Opry released the two Martys’ “El Paso” duet on September 26, 2025, which would have been Robbins’ 100th birthday. They shared that the recordings they used to create the mesmerizing mashup were recorded over 40 years apart.

On top of sharing the duet, the Opry also released a music video of sorts. The video weaves footage from Robbins’ and Stuart’s respective Opry performances.

You can watch that video below. Any longtime country fan will treasure the sound of Marty Robbins and Marty Stuart singing this classic tune together.
