Who is Travis Tritt’s wife?
Theresa Nelson Tritt is Travis Tritt’s third wife. Prior to their wedding in 1997, Travis was married to his high school sweetheart, Karen Ryon and then to Jodi Barnett. His divorce from Barnett was finalized just before his debut album, Country Club, was released in 1990.
Theresa was a college student and model in Nashville when she met Travis after a “Marty Party” taping with Marty Stuart.
How did Travis Tritt and Theresa Nelson meet?
According to Country Fancast, Tritt was celebrating his birthday in 1995 with Marty Stuart when Theresa caught his eye. The singer told the Chicago Tribune in 1996 that it was the last thing he expected to happen.
“I got blindsided,” he says. “The last thing I was looking for or expecting was to have this relationship come about.”
“The next thing I knew, she was a really huge part of my life,” Tritt said, adding that “More Than You’ll Ever Know” was inspired by Theresa.
“When you first meet somebody and you’re falling in love with them, if you’re like me you want to spend every waking moment of your day with her, get to know her as much as you possibly can,” he says. “We were able to do that for about the first three or four months we were together.”
After Tritt returned to the road and the couple was forced to spend some time apart, Travis was inspired to write the “nothing fancy, nothing flashy” song for Theresa.
Travis and Theresa’s Wedding
Travis and Theresa said “I do” at Tritt’s home near Atlanta on April 12, 1997. The singer’s publicist, Nancy Russell, shared at the time that Travis serenaded his bride with the song he wrote for her, “More Than You’ll Ever Know,” during the ceremony.
More than 300 friends and family members attended the nuptials. Some of the guests who attended included Tanya Tucker, Lari White (who collaborated with Travis on the song “Helping Me Get Over You” the same year), Sam Cooke, and Lynyrd Skynyrd’s Gary Rossington.

Do Travis and Theresa Tritt have children?
Travis and Theresa share three children: daughter Tyler Reese (1998), and sons Tristan James (1999) and Tarian Nathaniel (2003).
Tyler Reese is following in her famous dad’s footsteps and is an up and coming country artist. In 2013, Tyler teamed up with her dad to record the Patty Smyth, Don Henley duet, “Sometimes Love Just Ain’t Enough.”
