The Man Behind The Music
Dean Dillon started as a recording artist but made his mark on country music through his iconic songwriting. You may not be familiar with his original songs like “Her Thinkin’ I’m Doin’ Her Wrong.” But you’ve likely heard many of the songs he’s penned for other artists, especially ” Tennessee Whiskey.”
Dillon co-wrote the country classic song with Linda Hargrove, and it was recorded by David Allan Coe, George Jones, and, more recently, Chris Stapleton. Dillon is a three-time Grammy nominee and was named the 1985 Billboard Country Artist of the Year. In 2002, Dillon was inducted into the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame with 26 #1 hits, including the ever-famous “Tennessee Whiskey,” which you can watch David Allan Coe perform live below:

When Dillon was inducted into Country Music Hall of Fame, Strait said:
“The best way to hear a Dean Dillon song is when he plays it in person, I love the way he sings. He puts a lot of feeling in these songs and when he sings them for you in person, it really comes across. When he sings them for you in person, it’s kind of hard to turn him down, and I think he knows that.”
