George Strait Delivers Rollicking Tribute To Johnny Cash With “Folsom Prison Blues”

“The King Of Country” Honors “The Man In Black”
George Strait took a moment to honor Johnny Cash by singing “Folsom Prison Blues” during one of his recent concerts.
Cash released his self-written “Folsom Prison Blues” in 1955. The song reached the fourth spot on the chart now known as Billboard’s Hot Country Songs chart.
A live version of the song was recorded at the real-life Folsom State Prison in California. The track was released in 1968 and reached the top spot on the Hot Country Songs chart.

Today, “Folsom Prison Blues” is known as one of Cash’s signature songs. Over the decades, it’s been covered by dozens of other artists, including Jelly Roll, Josh Turner, and Chris Stapleton.

Strait can also add his name to the long list of artists who’ve performed “Folsom Prison Blues.” It’s a song he’s performed for years, and fans always love it when he does.
Most recently, Strait sang Cash’s classic song during his concert at Rice-Eccles Stadium in Salt Lake City, Utah.
